~Awarded via public tender, this year’s project builds on FY2025 insights to further explore Tohoku’s space industry cluster and supply chain~
ASTRO GATE Inc. (Head Office: Akiruno, Tokyo; President & President: Daisuke Ode; hereinafter “Astro Gate”) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the Tohoku Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI Tohoku), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, for the “FY2026 Survey on Building Testing Environments and Supply Chains in Space Industry Clusters Centered on Tohoku.“
In the previous fiscal year (FY2025), Astro Gate was commissioned by METI Tohoku for the “FY2025 Commissioned Survey on Small and Medium Enterprises (Feasibility Survey on Accelerating the Growth of New Space Enterprises and Establishing a Space Industry Hub in the Tohoku Region).“ In that project, Astro Gate conducted research on the status and feasibility of demonstration testing facilities, the demand for test infrastructure among New Space startups, and the regional economic impacts of the space industry.
Following a competitive public bid, ASTRO GATE has been awarded this year’s project, which builds upon the findings of last year’s study to further investigate actionable solutions to key industry challenges. As the global space industry expands rapidly—making the enhancement of domestic launch capabilities and resilient supply chains an urgent priority for Japan—the role of the Tohoku region’s industrial sector is becoming increasingly critical.

Through this survey project, ASTRO GATE will advance the consideration of solutions to challenges facing the formation of a space industry cluster in Tohoku, work to further concentrate space-related industries and expand economic regional impact, and aim to establish a Tohoku region that supports Japan’s space development and utilization.
