ASTRO GATE Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; hereinafter “ASTRO GATE”), a company specializing in spaceport planning and management, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding spaceport development and technical collaboration with Omspace Rocket and Exploration Pvt. Ltd. (Headquarters: Ahmedabad, India; hereinafter “Omspace”), an Indian space startup developing reusable small launch vehicles.
The MoU signing ceremony took place at the venue of the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026) in Antalya, Turkey.
■ Background and Purpose of the MoU
Amid a rapid global surge in demand for satellite launches, the development of reusable launch vehicles and the establishment of flexible spaceport infrastructure have become essential for achieving sustainable and frequent access to space.
ASTRO GATE is working to plan, construct, and manage spaceports worldwide, driving the development of ground facilities and the optimization of various operations. Meanwhile, Omspace is focused on developing next-generation reusable launch vehicles to deliver low-cost, high-frequency space transportation services.
Through this partnership, both companies will initiate technical information exchanges on spaceport development tailored for future launches, integration technology (interface matching and coordination) between ground facilities and launch vehicles, and studies into operational efficiency.
Furthermore, this agreement extends beyond a bilateral corporate partnership. It aims to bridge the rapidly growing space industry ecosystems of India and Japan, laying a crucial foundation to foster technological exchange and industrial growth in the commercial space sector between both nations.

■ Key Areas of Collaboration
- Exchange of Technical Information in Spaceport Development
Evaluating ground facility specifications and operational requirements needed for landing, servicing, and refueling reusable launch vehicles.
- Rocket and Spaceport Integration
Interface matching and technical alignment between rockets developed by Omspace and spaceports planned and managed by ASTRO GATE.
- Promotion of India-Japan Space Industry Ecosystem Collaboration
Creating new business opportunities and strengthening the industrial base by fostering synergy among commercial space companies and relevant institutions in both countries.
